What's new
Product changes, with dates
Recordwell changes most weeks. This page lists what changed for the person reading a report — in search, in the report itself, and in the controls a report subject can use.
It is not a complete engineering log. Changes that only affect how the service runs are left out; anything that changes what you see or what you can do is listed here.
One search, one report
- Asking for the same report twice now returns the report you already have instead of building a second copy of it. Two reports about one person, with two different links, is not a result anyone asked for.
- A request to remove your information is no longer duplicated when the form is submitted more than once. The confirmation link is sent once, and the page says so instead of promising a second email that never comes.
- When a finished report cannot be saved, we now record why. Previously a report that failed to save looked exactly like a report nobody asked for.
Reports that read like documents
- Confirmed records are now visually separated from people who merely share a name. A page of two hundred namesakes used to read as “here is what we found about this person”.
- Colour carries meaning: confirmed records, name-only matches, and anything that needs checking are no longer the same shade.
- Every sentence in the written summary is attached to a source. Without a source the sentence is not printed at all.
- Conclusions about a person are separated from facts and labelled as conclusions.
- Employment and education are shown separately, every finding carries a numbered citation you can click through, and records carry the mark of the platform they came from.
- Profile pictures are served through Recordwell. The address of the platform's own storage never reaches your browser.
A faster, more honest search
- Every social network is now searched on its own track. One platform refusing to answer no longer takes the others down with it, and the report says which network could not be asked.
- You can paste a link to a profile into the search box. It is the shortest route to the right person when several people share a name.
- The candidate screen shows everyone found so far and keeps updating while sources are still answering, instead of waiting in silence.
- An empty result now explains whether sources answered or could not be reached. “Nothing found” and “we could not ask” are different answers.
- If a report is going to be thin, we say so before you pay and suggest how to narrow the search.
Removal you can follow
- A removal request now has two tracked states instead of one: hidden from results, and purged from searchable storage. Both are shown with their own dates.
- The status link in your email works without an account and reports where the request stands, including the statutory deadline.
- Requests to remove your own information remain free and require no account.
Something still wrong?
If a report missed something, matched the wrong person, or showed a record that is not yours, tell us — the feedback link sits at the bottom of every page, and removal requests are free.
